For projects that take multiple days, especially here in Florida where the weather can change unexpectedly, Gunite offers a major advantage over ready-mix shotcrete. Because Gunite is applied as a dry mix with water added at the nozzle, it allows for greater control during placement while also giving crews more flexibility to pause and restart work without creating problematic cold joints between sections. This is especially beneficial on custom shapes, detailed designs, or more complex structures where precision and consistency matter. Sudden rain delays or weather interruptions are much easier to manage while still maintaining a strong bond and structural integrity throughout the project. With ready-mix shotcrete, timing is much more critical since the material is already mixed before arriving on site, making stop-and-start applications more difficult and increasing the risk of cold joints on phased or weather-delayed jobs.
